Smithtown: A Legendary Place to Live
Weber & Grahn are proud to serve the people of Smithtown, a colorful place with centuries of history and mythos. Smithtown was settled about 1665, on land that Richard Smith supposedly won while riding a bull named Whisper. Historical records show that Richard Smith actually bought the town’s land from a man named Lion Gardiner, First Lord of the Manor of Gardiner’s Island. The legend persists, however, and the statue of Whisper the Bull erected by Charles Cary Rumsey in 1903 still stands at the fork of West Main Street and St. Johnland Road.
The town’s narrative goes beyond its borders with celebrities such as Smithtown High School East graduate and CNN news anchor Soledad O’Brien, Dream Theater co-founder and guitarist John Petrucci from Kings Park, and Nesconset born-and-raised novelist Jodi Picoult. As the legend of Smithtown grows, Weber & Grahn will continue to keep its residents safe and comfortable, with world class heating and cooling expertise.
